Manuscript third person invitation to disgraced Revolutionary War General John Burgoyne from colorful Whig politician Charles James Fox. Singe-page document reads, ''Mr Fox presents his Compliments to General Burgoyne, and requests the favor of his Company tomorrow Evening…at Burlington House.'' Dated Tuesday, 7 February, no year though likely 1786. In 1782, Fox, a staunch North opponent, restored Burgoyne his rank. 7.5'' x 9'' document has small loss at bottom and light spotting, otherwise very good. A wonderful association piece.
