Burgess Gun Co. 12ga folding-shotgun made for anti-burglar and law-enforcement purposes, patented June 12th 1894, and August 21st, 1894. There was a holster available for these guns to be worn on the hip and quicklybrought into action. Many advertisements for them features famous Western law-men Pat Garrett, who was a spokesman and demonstrator for the Burgess Company. See Lot #150, March 2007, where we sold Pat Garret’s Burgessshotgun as featured on the catalog cover. The gun remains in good to very good condition showing 11-1/2” barrel, approx. 10-20% blue remains drifting to patina, some dents in the magazine tube, good markings, good edges, sliding pistol grip is slightly worn with a couple of cracks. The stock shows dings, mars, scratches, normal use. The original Burgess hard-rubber buttplate is retained, the action is good, bore very good. Scarceand desirable to collectors of the Old West. Serial #3029. Est: $1,250 - $2,500
