Incorporated in South Dakota, July, 1905; 436 issued March 1, 1906 to John S. Cook, Trustee for 1000 shares; signed by the Secretary, Hugh H. Brown and J. Campbell, President; printed by John Partridge, Printer, 300 Cal. St., S.F.; U/C; Reverse is signed by John Cook. This mine was located just north of Rhyolite. John S. Cook was most famous for the bank named after him. The Bank of John S Cook & Company was first established in 1905 by John S Cook, as a private bank, and with a capital of $50,000. In November 1906, the capital was increased to $250,000, divided into 2,500 shares of the par value of $100, and incorporated. The original incorporators were John S Cook, George S Nixon and George Wingfield, who were also directors of the corporation. In 1908. The remains of the three story bank in Rhyolite still draws much attention. Hugh Brown was a San Francisco lawyer who found himself in the tough and tumble town of Tonopah during the great Goldfield-Tonopah rush of 1908. Among the many corporations he was council to were Tonopah Mining Company, the Jim Butler Tonopah Mining Company, the Tonopah & Goldfield Railroad, the Bullfrog & Goldfield Railroad, the Desert Power & Mill Company, the Tonopah United Water Company, and the Nevada Copper Company.
