Bullfrog,NV - Nye County - 1905 - Original Bullfrog Mines Syndicate Stock Certificate :
Cert. #841. Incorporated under the laws of the Territory of Arizona. Issued to W.E. Miles, Trustee, for 500 shares in 1905. Signed by John E. Lutz as President and W.E Miles as Asst. Secretary. The Original Bullfrog Mines Syndicate held the original Bullfrog mine on "Bullfrog Mountain," a hill no more than 100' above the Bullfrog campsite off the west flank of the hill. It was known for its unusual blue-green minerals in quartz with native gold. Ore specimens were sent to Tiffany's in New York for lapidary work, out of which a number of fobs were made. A small test open pit mine was begun in the 1980's, but proved unsuccessful due to quartz processing. There was a 50,000 ounce reserve in place in the late 80's, but it may have become sub economic under the present conditions. This is the more rare of the two Original Bullfrog, though not as attractive as the other which features an illustration of a fat frog in the under print. Vignette of mine and mill operations at water's edge, flanked by two smaller vignettes of underground mining scenes. Green border and seal. Printer: Goes. Datelined S.F., Cal. Fold lines, otherwise VF.
