Bullfrog Gold Bar Mining Company stock
Incorporated in South Dakota, February, 1905; No. 562 issued March 23, 1906 to F. H. Lathrop for 200 shares; signed by J.P. Loftus as President and W. H. Sherman(?), Secretary; printed by Press f John Partridge, S.F.; U/C; endorsed on reverse. Issued at Goldfield, Nevada (Tonopah is scratched out and Goldfield is written in ink). The Gold Bar was a gold deposit on the outskirts of the Bullfrog District about four miles out of Rhyolite. It was discovered at the same time as Bullfrog (1904) and by 1907 had a mill. There was a lawsuit with the Homestake Mine, an adjoining property. Loftus was an honorable man who made money at the Goldfield and Tonopah stocks, but was attacked by the local newspapers. Both the Gold Bar and the Homestake fell victim to the Failure of the Sullivan Trust Company panic [Ref: Holabird, Filer II, p. 54].City: BullfrogCounty: EsmeraldaState: NV
