Our Assessment: This Centennial Airweight chambered for .38 Special was made between 1957 and 1966 and belonged to actor Buddy Hackett. He is best remembered for roles including Marcellus Washburn in The Music Man (1962), Benjy Benjamin in It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World (1963), Tennessee Steinmetz in The Love Bug (1968), and the voice of Scuttle in The Little Mermaid (1989). This revolver has a custom engraved banner bearing his name on the sideplate. The inside of the grips are marked "19189". This Smith & Wesson revolver is in pretty good shape, showing honest wear. This is a unique chance to add a pistol to your collection that belonged to the famous American actor and comedian, Buddy Hackett, the "Saloon Comic". Sights / Optics: The front sight is a ramped and serrated fixed blade that is integral to the top rip. The rear sight is a square notch and groove that is integral to the top strap.

Grip Configuration & Condition: The Magna two piece grips are smooth wood with S&W medallions. There are scrapes and scratches on the grips and the wood has weathered. There is wear on the top edges. These grips rate in about Good overall condition.

Finish Originality: Original

Bore Condition: The bore is bright with sharp rifling. There is some minor fouling in the bore. In this writer’s opinion, the bore rates a 9.5 out of 10.

Overall Condition: This handgun retains about 85% of its metal finish. There is finish wear on the edges, some scattered nicks and scratches in the metal and scattered areas of thinning. There are a few little spots of frost. The screw heads are sharp, some show light tool marks. The markings are clear. Overall, this handgun rates in about Good condition.

Mechanics: The action functions Correctly. We did not fire this handgun. As with all used firearms, a more thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.
