Well-known character actor (1908–2003), best remembered for his starring roles in The Beverly Hillbillies and Barnaby Jones. He had the original role as the Tin Man in the 1939 film, but it lasted for only ten days due to a severe reaction to the silver metallic based make-up. Vintage pearl-finish 8 x 10 double weight Clarence Sinclair Bull portrait, signed and inscribed in-person in fountain pen “To Saul, Best wishes, Buddy Ebsen.” Reverse of photo bears collector’s stamp date of July 18, 1939, the date the signature was acquired. In very good condition, with light surface rubbing around signature and inscription, scattered light spotting to image and borders, a couple trivial creases, and a faint vertical line through right portion of image.
