Buddy Ebsen's Straw Hat from His Early Vaudeville Career. When Buddy Ebsen arrived in New York, he had $26.75 in his pocket. He and his sister Vilma formed an act and performed in supper clubs, in vaudeville, and on Broadway, where they appeared as chorus members in a number of productions -- including Whoopee, of which a rave review from Walter Winchell gave them enough of a boost to land them a booking at the vaunted Palace Theatre, the pinnacle of the vaudeville world. A few short years later, he and Vilma were able to make the leap to motion pictures. This size 7 1/2 straw boater hat was worn by in a number of performances during those early vaudeville years, and it is in Very Fine to Excellent condition with mild wear and some red ink stains to the crown.
