Buddy Ebsen's Oil Can Bass. Buddy Ebsen called it his "pacemaker" -- a one string bass with a blue, 2' drum at the bottom. This remarkable musical instrument towers more than 6' high, has a certain Ozarkan flamboyance about it and comes complete with three 3.5 "x 5" color snapshots of Buddy in Jed Clampett make-up and costume playing the bass, a b&w 5" x 7" shot of Buddy as "Jed" with the bass, and 6.5" x 10" color shot of a barefoot Buddy, in red shirt ad shorts, playing the bass at home (and apparently singing along!). There's also a photocopy of a feature story from the May 26, 1985 Sacramento Bee, titled "Jed's Jazzed Up About Peace," regarding Buddy's performing with his one-string bass at the 12th Annual Sacramento Dixieland Jazz Jubilee. There is some black tape bracing the upper area of the bass and the instrument comes complete with bows. By the way, Buddy played the instrument when he performed with country music greats Flatt and Scruggs, and one of his favorite songs to sing while playing it was "Yes, We Have No Bananas." Unique indeed! In Very Good condition. From the Buddy Ebsen Estate.

Shipping: Musical Instruments, Large (view shipping information)
