Buddy Ebsen Handwritten and Typed Essay "The Pleasure of Being a Captain." Sailing was one of Buddy Ebsen's great passions. He sailed all over the world and even wrote a book about sailing, 1972's Polynesian Concept. This lot includes Buddy's six-page handwritten essay "The Pleasures of Being a Captain," dated July 28, 1985. Buddy wrote his essay on 8.5" x 11" lined yellow paper and the lot also includes a five-page typewritten copy. The essay is entertaining as Buddy mentions Captain Bligh and Captain Queeg, relates a funny anecdote about W.C. Fields, tells about hooking Davy Crockett co-star Fess Parker to a love of boats, and writes about his joy of seeing his passengers "step ashore safe and happy." Fine insight into the offscreen Buddy Ebsen, in Excellent condition. From the Buddy Ebsen Estate.

Shipping: Flat Material, Small (view shipping information)
