This Indonesian Buddha figure was made of stone and comes from the island of Java. The Hindu Buddhist statue wears the traditional dress and is adorned with precious jewelry in Singhasari style. The ornaments are worked in relief and illustrate the precise craftsmanship of the region. The figure has a serene expression and formed with its full lips a slight smile. The eyes are half closed and the deep neck wrinkles as well as the long earlobes clarify Buddha's grandeur. A floral ornate headdress adorns the head and complements the statue.



The stone statue is in good condition with usual signs of age and wear. Slight loss of material here and there as well as small notches can be seen. The height of the figure measures 83 cm and the width 48 cm. The height with base is ca. 112 cm and the weight is ca. 70 kg. (lvp)
