This Buddha is made of bronze and dates back to 17th Century Thailand. He is decorated with gold and red lacquer and stands in the upright samabhanga stand on a stepped pedestal. The base is decorated with lotus flowers, circulating bordures and other ornaments. The figure wears a long, with floral elements ornate robe, a cloak, reaching down to his calves and a pair of boots. Precious jewelry, worked in relief, covers the body. Both hands are raised to the chest and form the gesture of fearlessness and granting protection, the abhaya mudra. Buddha has half-closed eyes, accentuated by fine eyebrows and a slightly smiling mouth. A curved headdress adorns his forehead and frames the face one both side. Small curls can be found on the head as well as a high, tapering ketumala.

The bronze statue is in age related condition with signs of wear. Restored breakages on the fingers of the left hand, on the feet (renewed) and on the Ketumala are visible. Loss of material as well on the ketumala and color flaking are recognizable. The total height is 19 cm, the width 5 cm and the depth 4.5 cm. (lvp)
