Buck Garrett's 1886 Winchester. Winchester Model 1886 rifle belonging to famed lawman Buck Garrett, S/N 48783, .40-82 caliber with octagon barrel. CONDITION: Barrel has been cut to 23" turning even brown, some slight traces of finish on the receiver, surface rust in exposed areas. Overall in good to very good condition, and fully operational.

Includes documents, photos and other ephemera, including a letter from Laura Garrett regarding the rifle and her father-in-law (Buck Garrett). Items relating to Carl Sackett of Cheyenne, Wyoming, a member of the Wyoming Stock Growers Assoc. and participant in the Johnson County War with Buck Garrett. Manuscript by writer David J. Hall titled, “Deputy US Marshal Buck Garrett and the Johnson County, Wyoming Range War” complete with photo captions, and (separately) the original photos that correspond to the article. Copies of the Buck Garrett inventory loaned to the United States Marshals Service – Smithsonian Exhibit. Numerous photos, articles, cards, etc. relating to the rifle and articles on Garrett.
