Clip point blade, 8 1/8" long, with a sharpened clip. No maker's markings but is Buck Bros. Bow-tie shaped brass cross guard, 2 1/2" long and 1" wide, with a steel collar and one piece wooden finger grooved handle. Two brass grip rivets, with three silver rivets on left side, center marked "36". Butt of handle marked "A.S.P." twice, around hole. One piece leather sheath, with belt loop on left. Includes National Archives research listing the knife as being manufactured by Buck Bros., Worcester, Mass. and was owned by Alonzo S. Putnam, 36th Mass. Regiment. OAL: 13".

Condition: Very good, with spotting on blade and some light pitting. Brass cross guard has a darkened patina. Handle is fine, with light hairline cracks near grip rivet and minor handling marks. Sheath is also very good, with moderate scuffing and wear overall. There is some cracking on the belt loop.
