Bruce Lee Document Signed: Green Hornet Contract
Bruce Lee Document Signed: His Green Hornet Contract. 39 pages, 9" x 11.5", housed in red titled paper wraps, Los Angeles, June 8, 1965. The 39 page contract is an option agreement between Bruce Lee and Greenway Productions for Lee's role as Kato in the Green Hornet. Lee was to be paid on a graduated scale from $400 per week for a 13-week option, to $1,000 per week for a one-year-option. The remainder of the document spells out the agreement's specifics in detail, including transportation, "moral turpitude", disability and a clause requiring dental work if deemed necessary "to improve his appearance on the screen." It is signed boldly in blue ink by Lee on the final page.

Kato, Green Hornet's sidekick, was the role that would catapult Lee's career in America. Born in San Francisco (in the hour of the dragon, 6-8 AM and in the year of the Dragon, November 27, 1940), but raised in Hong Kong, Lee had appeared in a number of minor films before he returned to the United States at age 18. He soon abandoned hopes of a film career and was pursuing martial arts when someone associated with the Batman television show spotted him at the 1964 Long Beach Karate Tournament. He auditioned, and the producers were impressed enough with his moves to offer him this role. The Green Hornet ran for a total of 26 episodes on ABC during 1966 and 1967. For most Americans, the show provided the first glimpse of Lee in action. Within a few years he would become a powerhouse film attraction. His skill, charisma, and presence afforded martial arts films a new measure of respectability and popularity but his untimely death would move him into the realm of legend. Fine condition. Included is a numbered Letter of Authenticity from PSA/DNA.

Shipping: Requires 3rd Party Shipping (view shipping information)
