Bruce II, Colin R. & Dr. George W. Vogt. STANDARD CATALOG OF MEXICAN COINS PAPER MONEY, STOCKS, BONDS AND MEDALS. Krause Publications, Inc., Iola. 1981. 4to. 352 pages. Original pictorial card covers. b&w coin, medal, currency and document photos throughout. Near Fine. This catalog provides a detailed chronicle of the numismatic issues of Mexico - the colonial and post-independence coinages, the War of Independence and revolutionary provisionaries, the interesting pattern and proclamation issues, and the particularly significant modern medal issues; in the case of the paper money listings the starting point is the Iturbide issues of 1821-23, carries through the diverse 'Banco' issues of the late 19th century and the Bank of Mexico issues of the past half century, including extensive listings of the issues of the revolution (1910-1917)- all of which are presented in easy to use, chronologically arranged listings commencing with the earliest coinages of Charles and Johanna, and carrying through the latest paper money issues of 1977. A substantial portion of the contents of this catalog - the coin issues from the time of independence (1821) to the present, and paper money commencing in the 1880s - have been adapted from the listings incorporated in two other titles; the Standard Catalog of World Coins and the Standard Catalog of World Paper Money, a pair of comprehensive references to world numismatic issues published by Krause Publications. The earlier coin listings are based on several pioneer works authored by Neil S. Utberg more than a decade ago; the paper money listings on Carlos Gaytan's Paper Currency of Mexico. While this catalog has been designed primarily to serve the American collector market - it is intended to meet the requirements of both novice and advanced collectors - its arrangement by chronological date order, with all issues grouped by denomination and illustrated by type, makes it easy for individuals possessing only a minimal knowledge of Mexican numismatics to quickly adapt to its use. This arrangement likewise facilitates its use by Spanish speaking, or other non-English speaking collectors. Lot weight: 1 lbs 14oz. Subject(s): Mexican Coinage, Medals, Paper Money.
