Browning Model 1878 single shot falling block rifle 40-70 straight sharps caliber with 30” barrel marked “Browning Bros., Ogden U.T., Pat Oct 7th ’79” serial #313. The rifle remains in good to very good condition showing a brown patina finish, some scattered light erosion and pinprick pitting. Some marks on the barrel and normal frontier type use. The front sight is a blade made from antler in the original base. The rear sight is ballard in its original dove tail. The bore is at least very good and the interior shows use but no abuse. The butt stock shows normal wear, some weathering, small losses, darkened areas andabout good overall.
