For your consideration is a historic first year production Browning BAR High Power Semi-Auto Sporting Rifle. The Browning’s easily recognizable “humped back frame” semi-auto was first introduced in 1967. Those rifles made before 1969 have an “M” at the end of the serial number with a digit after which indicates the year of manufacture. This Belgian made rifle has the serial number 4591 M7, indicating a rare first year production rifle. The caliber is the classic .30-06 and the barrel length is 22 inches. Early in production, during the 1970s, production of this fine rifle moved from Belgium to Japan. Those early Belgian manufactured rifles are clearly marked “MADE IN BELGIUM,” show correct Belgian proof marks and are eagerly sought after today on the collector market. This 53 year old first year of introduction Browning High Power Semi-Automatic rifle shows normal light hunting use, but remains in fine overall condition. This rifle also retains the original Browning embossed butt plate- these often replaced with recoil pads. It also retains the original sling swivel studs and still has sharp checkering on the pistol grip and forend. This rifle is topped in classic Weaver style rings and bases with a Western Field 4-12X 40mm scope with duplex reticle, parallax adjustments and excellent bright optics. The barrel is also equipped with a folding buckhorn rear sight and a fine blade/bead ramped front sight. The bore is bright and excellent. A remarkable first year Belgian manufactured BAR High Power rifle in a classic caliber that is desirable as both a collectible Browning and as a popular target or hunting rifle. This firearm qualifies as a Curio & Relic, and requires FFL Transfer or NICS Background Check.
