Brown Jade DRAGON from the ancient State of Zhongshan - currently part of Shanxi Province. It is nicely carved and polished, with some tomb corrosion producing a bit of roughness on the surface. I recall visiting the Sackler Museum in Washington DC in 1999 or 2000 to see the Chinese exhibition there. A special display case featured the Brown Jade of Zhongshan and I made notes on it at the time. The several carvings similar to this one have stuck in my mind ever since. Warring States to Han period, this example is 2" tall and excellent condition. A fine piece for an advanced collection.
