Bronze sculpture entitled “Old Gabe” showing mountain man with half stock plains rifle (over and under barrel) measuring approximately 18” in height signed Rusty and dated 1971, number 9 of only 20. We have viewed this artist’s work for a number of years and know that he exhibited at the Cody Winchester Gun Show and was from the Northwest but cannot find any listing of his full name or location. He created many unique artworks (several for Mr. Glen Hockett of Great Falls) and some that were themed in regard to Winchester. Also he was fascinated by mountain men and subjects appealing to the people around Cody, Wyoming and Montana which are Western art centers. A very attractive and nicely accomplished bronze of the largest size we have seen by this sculptor. Est.: $900-$1,800.
