The plaque depicts a full facial image of Teddy Roosevelt with one of his favorite expressions stamped in block letters on the bottom of the plaque. The plaque reads "I wish to preach not the doctrine of ignoble ease but the doctrine of strenuous life, the life of toil and effort, of labor and strife; to preach that the highest form of success that comes, not to the man who desires mere ease and peace, but to him who does not shrink from danger, hardship, or bitter toil, and who, out of these wins the splendid ultimate triumph." The plaque is signed on the bottom in script "Theodore Roosevelt" and is also signed on the bottom edge of the plaque "J.E. Fraser". By James Earle Fraser (Am: 1871-1941). Measures 7 inches x 12 inches and weighs 6 lbs.
