The style of this piece is clearly influenced by works from the Northern Wei dynasty. A comparable statue of Buddha Maitreya and a figure of a Bodhisattva in front of a mandorla can be found in Chung Tai Museum in Taiwan. A work as a triad with flaming mandorla can be found in the British Museum (accession no. 1910,0616.1). A bronze as Guanyin group is visible in the Freer Sackler Collection, The Smithsonian's Museum of Asian Art (accession no. F1911.122). Compare the representation of a seated Buddha with flaming mandorla and wide folds at the Johnson Museum of Art, Cornell University (accession no. 96.016; see SU Bai, Buddha Images of the Northern Plain, 4th-6th Century, in: China. Dawn of a Golden Age, 200-750 AD, New York 2004, p. 79).
