This coin features a rarely seen reverse, depicted two bound and seated war captives. The obverse, too, is unusual, featuring the emperor holding in his hand a representation of the god Victory, atop a globe. Constantine II was the eldest son of Constantine the Great, and was born in 311 A.D. From 337 A.D. to 340 A.D. he reigned jointly with his younger brothers, Constans and Constantius II, but eventually sought to rule outright. His efforts were rebuked by Constans, who had him ambushed and killed in 340 A.D. JC-30101-142 JC-30242
