Bronze Austrian Breechloading 1893 Dated Cannon, #341, 7 CM cal. (2.76'' dia.), 39'' in length, sliding breechblock with screw lock, on carriage with iron hot-rivet frame and 36-1/2'' dia. wooden wheels with iron rims. Overall length muzzle to trail is 68''; width to outside of quick-release hubs is 46''. Three-part conical projectile takes a friction primer to fire and uses a powder bag instead of a self-contained shell. Marked ''7 CM, 90 KG (weight), No. 341, 1893 'A' (Austrian)''. Imported in the 1970s by Dave Cumberland and George Repaire. Condition is excellent with iron carriage showing a 40-year-old coat of black paint. Compressed bronze tube and hardware with light sucffs and scratches patinating at a different rate than usual naval bronze. Nine-spoke oak wheels with minor oil darkening.
