Broadway Gondolier (Warner Brothers, 1935). Insert (14" X 36"). Long before he became a staple of film noir detective thrillers, Dick Powell got his start in light-hearted romantic musicals. In this comedy, Powell, a crooner, decides to move to Italy so he can be a real gondolier (there's a career opportunity if we ever saw one). He's soon discovered by a wealthy heiress looking for a "real" gondolier she can feature on her father's radio show. There's lots of opportunities for comedy and music and Warner's took advantage of every one of them. This insert features the Four Mills Brothers; one of the most popular musical acts of the day. Any posters depicting this popular group are extremely rare. The insert is rolled and has several staple marks around the edges. Some of those go into the blue background. There are also two small "V" shape tears within the image, one to the left of Ted Fiorito's name and the other under the "rg" in Gargan. Very Fine-.
