Original 1779 broadside of King George III's proclamation for a general fast. Proclamation, dated 13 December 1779 reads in part, ''...hereby command that a public fast and humiliation be observed throughout that part of our Kingdom of Great Britain called England, our Dominion of Wales, and Town of Berwick upon Tweed, upon Friday the fourth day of February next; that to both We and Our People may humble Ourselves before Almighty God, in order to obtain Pardon of Our Sins...'' Line at bottom credits printing to Charles Eyre and William Strahan, the official printers of the Crown. Single-page broadside measures 12.5'' x 16''. Toning, chipping to edges and archival repair to vertical tear. Overall very good.
