Britney Spears Ringleader Costume & On-Set Photos & Research Material From Her Circus Video
Britney Spears Ringleader Costume & On-Set Photos & Research Material From Circus Video For Britney Spears the development of her sixth studio album "Circus" was one of the most important projects in her life. It was the summer of 2008 and she was just recovering from a total breakdown, and had been placed under a temporary conservatorship. Therefore she had a lot to prove. Her music had been darker up to this time, and she wanted something lighter and more positive, utilizing the beat of Electro-pop and Dance-Pop Styles. Bringing in top talent, Spears hard work paid off. "Circus" debuted on Billboard's top 200, and racked in sales of 4.5 million copies and 15 million digital tracks, becoming one of Spears' best selling albums of all time. She wanted the video of the title track to re-create the magic and splendor of the famous European Circuses of the 1920's. Among the top talent she brought in was famed award-winning costume designer Laura Duncan. Laura began a period of extensive research to create a look that would mirror what Spears was after. The video has become one of the most popular ever. Spears' signature outfit was the "Ringleader" costume with black sequin stretch-cotton tap-shorts, and the iconic black satin Circus Ringleader long-tail coat with Rhinestone buttons, and a special vintage rhinestone bow-broach on the back. It also included a black-lame low-cut top hat with white ostrich bloom. Britney went through almost 30 pairs of boots supplied by Duncan until she found the ones she loved: antique stiletto boots with lace spats. The outfit is shown prominently all through the classic highly produced video. This is that hero Ringleader outfit that Britney Spears wore. It includes the sequin shorts, satin leather long-coat and antique boots. It also includes Duncan's original designed low-cut lame top hat and ostrich bloom. Ms. Duncan's trademark initials "LD" are inside the lining. This original hat was used as a prototype for other copies that were used in the film. Because of the enormous amount of physical work, several hats were made. As an extra bonus, along with the hero worn costume are all the original files of on-set and costume test photos taken for all the dancers and characters as well as for Spears. In addition are "costume combination" photos showing Spears dozens of options for her Ringleader outfit for her to choose from. Also included is the original video production shot list. All from Duncan's personally collection. On request, costume designer Laura Duncan will also sign the production materials to the buyer.
