British Webley Mark II Double Action Revolver, #58497, .45 ACP cal., 4'' barrel, blued finish, plastic grips, blade front sight and ''V''-notched rear sight. Marked on left side of frame ''WEBLEY MARK II PATENTS'', and on left side barrel extension with Birmingham proof and inspection stamps along with a Broad Arrow over ''WD'' stamp. London export stamps on right side of barrel. Royal Navy ''N'' on rear of grip along with an engraved Broad Arrow on top of barrel extension usually associated with naval issue. ''ENGLAND'' export/import stamp on left side of barrel, along with added hand stamped ''45 WEBLEY''. Converted to .45 ACP by ''shaving'' rear of cylinder. Right side of barrel has been reshaped. Matching numbers on frame and barrel; cylinder serial number was removed during conversion. Condition overall is good with approx. 70% of the reblued finish remaining on metal surfaces. Grips are possibly replacements and are slightly undersized in very good condition with several areas of light flattening. Bore is good with several small impressions on left side and showing wear to the rifling. Chambers show some darkening but are otherwise very good. Action locks up tightly but functions on double action only, as the hammer cannot be pulled back manually and needs to be adjusted by a gunsmith. Est.: $350-$500. (C&R/PPT) (Joe Poyer collection)
