British Victorian Foreign Service Pith Helmet and Two War Medals

1) This is a Victorian era foreign service pith helmet produced by J. B. Johnstone. The 6 panel body is composed of cork with a white doeskin covering. There is a cloth puggaree around the center of the helmet. There is a gilt spike at the top and a leather backed gilt chin chain. The peaks are lined with green fabric, the sweat band is natural colored leather, the lining is red silk and there are two gold embossed red leather labels. 2) Silver India General Service medal with North West Frontier 1936-37 clasp. Marked on the outside rim "1059925 GNR. C. FORD. R.A." 3) Silver Queen Victoria India medal with Punjab Frontier 1897-98 clasp. Marked on the outside rim "No. 3687. PTE. W. DODDS. 2 HIGH. L. I.".

Condition: 1) Good, there is some flaking and scratches on the exterior of the helmet. The chin chain is bright and has been resewn to the backing in a number of places. The spike has aged. The silk lining has several tears and is fraying. 2) Fine, there are a few nicks around the outside edge. 3) Very good, there are a few light scratches and nicks overall.
