British PIAT Anti-Tank Launcher
Introduced in 1942, the Projector, Infantry, Anti-Tank, or PIAT for short, combined a man portable spring actuated spigot mortar with a large shape charge warhead to blast through a 100mm steel plate at roughly 100 yards, in addition to being able to indirect fire up to 750 meters. Though heavier and harder to use from prone than American and German offerings of the era, the PIAT far outstripped the armor penetration of the Boys Rifle it replaced, and was easier to make and had less blowback than contemporary weapons. Measuring 37" in total length, with the projectile carrier measuring 9 3/8" long, folding pin front and 3-port aperture rear sights, side mounted high/ low angle sights, an adjustable monopod, combination trigger guard and handrest with long trigger, right side mounted safety, grooved pistol grip and a metal buttplate which doubles as the cocking piece. Weapon also comes with an insert adaptor for firing lower diameter cartridges.
