This is an 18th C. British Naval cutlass with a 25 in., blade 31 in. overall length, no scabbard. The guard and grip are steel and painted black to minimize corrosion (some paint remains on the guard). A crown is a stamped incuse on the left side of the blade near the ricasso with no other markings. Later versions had the royal cipher that looked like an arrowhead. This 25 in. blade has no curve and a full length fuller slot that disappears 3 inches from the point.
