British Model 1803 Baker Cavalry Rifle NVSN
Cavalry Rifle version of the British Baker Rifle, famous for use in the Napoleonic Wars. Features a 20.5" rifled barrel of approx 20 gauge, "New Land" style lock with safety bolt and semi-waterproof pan, swivel ramrod, fixed sights, sling bar with ring, patch box at butt, brass furnishings, one piece wood stock with right handed cheek piece. Bore is good condition, showing light rust with sharp edges to rifling and little visible pitting, fairly bright overall. Iron parts are evenly finished in a dark brown color, smooth surfaced, with light rust in places such as front sight and ramrod mount. Light pitting is present at breech near lock. Markings are crisp and readable: large crown over "GR" on lock, "TOWER" at lock rear, deeply struck inspector's stamps on barrel at breech. Stock is good to very good solid condition with light coat of varnish, some dings and dents. Markings on stock include faint "205" next to patch box, broad arrow and "BO" on left butt. Brass parts are very good. Includes several flints in patch box. Condition is NRA Fine+ *** Antique Firearm ***
