British L42A1 Lee Enfield Bolt Action Sniper Rifle with Telescope, Transport Chest, and Accessories, #S33077, 7.62x51mm cal., 27.6" hammer forged heavy barrel, black painted finish, hardwood stock set with handguard, blade front sight with protectors, and adjustable folding rear sight with battle aperture removed. A #3 bolt head is fitted. Telescope is marked "TEL STG No 32 MK III", which has been barred out, and "OS 2039A/AK&S No28881/1946/(Broad Arrow)/(NATO stock number)". Telescope bracket is stamped "KD" and is marked with the current rifle serial number, two prior serial numbers have been barred out. Scope and bracket show wear and handling marks. Range and deflection drums click smoothly. There is a blurred area in the lower part of the lens, the optics are otherwise clear and bright. Steel scope case is marked "TELESCOPE STRAIGHT SIGHTING CASE L1A1". Condition is fair with dents and scratches. Wooden transport chest is marked "CHEST RIFLE 7.62 MM L42A1". Chest is painted in multiple colors and shows heavy use. Both are painted with matching numbers to the rifle and scope. An excellent condition cleaning kit and a very good condition commercial leather sling are stored inside. Rifle is marked "L42A1(Enfield arsenal symbol)71"on left side of the receiver over a "Tall T" final acceptance stamp. Left side of the action body is marked "M47C/1945" over a "TR" target range stamp. Right side of the receiver lug is marked with a vertical "S". There are Enfield arsenal onsite examiners marks stamped on each side of the bolt channel. Magazine case is marked "CR141A 65". Buttstock appears to be a replacement and is not marked with the Holland and Holland dispersal code. A sniper style sling swivel is fitted to the forward trigger guard. "19T" is engraved on the bolt handle and bolt head, and stamped on right side of the bolt channel. Matching numbers on the bolt handle and forend. Magazine does not match. No visible import marks. Rifle condition is very good overall, retaining approx. 85%-88% black finish, with scratches to the barrel, and finish wear to the receiver and front sight. Wood is very good with handling marks and scratches to the darkened finish, and heavier wear to the toe of the buttstock. Action operates smoothly.
