British Enfield No.4 MK1(T) Sniper Rifle
British No.4 MK1(T) Sniper Rifle manufactured by BSA in 1945. The rifle is a BSA No.4 MK1 Service Rifle that was selected for special accuracy and modified by Holland & Holland into sniper rifle configuration. The rifle has a 3X telescopic sight with tapered pointer and cross-wire reticule and click adjustable windage and elevation knobs. The scope mount is attached to mounting pads on the side of the receiver by two large screws. The screws enable the scope to be dismounted and mounted with minimal change in zero. The rifle butt is fitted with a special wooden cheekpiece and a an additional sniper sling swivel is mounted on the forearm in front of the magazine. The screw adjustable rear sight has the battle aperture milled away to enable it to clear the scope mount and serve as an auxiliary rear sight when the scope is removed. The left side of the buttcap is stamped with the BSA code (M47), the date of manufacture (1945), the rifle serial number (T32473) and the telescopic sighted rifle designation (TR). A "T" indicating the rifle has been fitted with a telescopic sight is stamped on the left side of the receiver. The Holland & Holland conversion code "S51" is stamped on the underside of the buttstock. The rifle serial number "T32473" is stamped on the back of the bolt handle and on the underside of the forearm. The top of the buttstock wrist is stamped with the serial number of the telescopic sight originally fitted to the rifle: "20011". The left side of the scope mount is stamped with the maker's code "KC" and a rifle serial number "34008". The scope rings have sequential assembly numbers "148" and "149". The telescopic sight has a parkerized finish. The scope tube is roll-stamped: "TEL. STG. No.32 MKIII/OS 2039A/AK&S No 18374/1945/^". This rifle was originally fitted with a No.32MKIII Telescopic Sight, the sight on the rifle is not original to this rifle.

Finish: black phosphate
Grips:
Serial Number: T32473
Condition: Very fine. The rifle retains 95% of the original black phosphate finish. The markings are sharp. The stock, forearm, handguard and sniper cheekpiece are all in excellent condition with only storage wear. The telescopic sight shows more wear than the rifle; the scope tube retains about 80% of the dull black finish. There is corrosion on the brass sunshade on the objective lens. The optics are very good and both the windage and elevation knobs rotate freely. The markings on the scope tube are light but legible. The No.4 MKI (T) is generally acknowledged to be the most accurate and rugged sniper rifle issued by any army during WWII.
