Brass barrel flintlock blunderbuss or coach gun marked “Lane” on the lock circa about 1810-30 with British proofs marks on the barrel. The gun measures 30 ¾” overall with 16” flared naval brass barrel which measures 1 ¼” across the bore and 15/8” across the flats to the outside edges. The barrel shows a good patina with some minor nicks, mars and normal aging. The lock shows a dark patina and some pitting. The name Lane is engraved in block letters and appears later then themanufacturer of this gun indicating possible agent or owner’s name. The lock is in its original flintlock configuration with replaced top jaw and screw. The stock has been lightly refinished and shows wood repairs to the fore end which areprofessionally done but somewhat extensive. A brass tip period ramrod is included. A classic blunderbuss of the type used to defend coaches from Highwaymen. Est.: $1200-$2400
