Brass Stocked Philadelphia Derringer Type Percussion Pistol
The stock of this pistol was produced from two pieces of solid brass, expertly shaped in the distinctive Philadelphia profile and finished in silver, with scroll accent engraving, a Schnable forend tip, solid silver trigger guard and a checkered bird's head butt. The barrel is outfitted with a brass blade front sight and notch rear sight, with scroll engraving on the breech, secured with a tang screw and a Southern-style retaining screw on the underside of the stock. The lock and hammer bear similar scroll designs, with no maker's marks, a fenced bolster and a fish scale pattern on the hammer.
