You've seen horse hames before. The Preservation Project restores and preserves them so they can actually be enjoyed as part of our pioneer heritage. This pair was discovered in the drawer of an Eastlake chest purchased at an Iowa auction. Like all the rest they were filthy, corroded and unappealing. Project artisans carefully cleaned them to reveal the better brass knobs and original base metal. All metal parts are complete; the leather was too deteriorated to save. A clear sealer has been applied to retain them in top form.
