Branch Rickey Typed Letter Signed as Manager of the St. Louis Cardinals “Branch Rickey”. One page, 8.5” x 11”, on St. Louis National Baseball Club letterhead, St. Louis, January 8, 1930, to Mr. S. W. Allen, Cincinnati. Branch Rickey politely declines a speaking engagement at a YMCA function and writes in part: “You have great friends. George Southworth is just about as wholesome a soul as I know of anywhere and I have very fond recollections of Alan Roudebush. He was a peach.” Branch Rickey was a major league baseball innovator who will be best remembered for breaking the color barrier by hiring superstars Jackie Robinson and Roberto Clemente. With the usual fold creases, else fine.

Shipping: Flat Material, Small (view shipping information)
