Bram Stoker: Under the Sunset
Bram Stoker: Under the Sunset (London: Chiswick Press, C. Whittingham & Co. for Sampson Low, Marston, Searle, and Rivington, 1882), first edition, 190 pages, publisher's off-white imitation vellum with beveled edges, gilt titles (outlined in red on the front board), front and spine panels bordered and lined in red and gilt, and rear panel outlined in red, 8vo (6" x 8"), no dust jacket (as issued), thin plastic cover over boards. All edges gilt. Yellow floral endpapers. Illustrations by W. Fitzgerald and W. V. Cockburn. A collection of eight dark fantasy tales, including "Under the Sunset", "The Rose Prince", "The Invisible Giant", "The Shadow Builder", "How 7 Went Mad", "Lies and Lilies", "The Castle of the King", and "The Wondrous Child". The book is in very good condition, with rubbing to the boards, minor shelf wear, and two small splits along the outer spine folds, not seriously affecting the structural integrity of the book. The inner textblock shows minimal scattered foxing, mostly confined to the first few leaves. A handsome edition of the first book from the author who later terrified the world for all time with Dracula.

Shipping: Books & Catalogs (view shipping information)
