Featured in this lot is this mid 1900s Boyt Gun Cases metal sign. The Boyt Harness Company, which is renowned as the hunting industry's standard for rifle cases, began producing firearm accessories during World War I. Walter and John Boyt began the company in 1901 as a family-owned harness shop in Iowa. Their earliest goods were driving harnesses and saddles, but during the war, they began producing military pistol holsters, cavalry saddle bags, and horse harnesses. Following the war, the company continued to manufacture harness, saddles, bridles, and accessories for farmers and stockmen in the Midwest. In 1925, Walter Boyt sold the company to John Boyt and his sons, and the name was changed to The Boyt Harness Company. Boyt Harness Company now manufactures long-lasting hunting and shooting gear, accessories, and clothing. The metal sign shows an orange colored background with black lettering reading, "Boyt Gun Cases / New Padded Protection and Quick Zipper Openings" on both sides of the sign. It features a two bottom mounting holes. The sign shows good condition overall with some slight wear present and paint chipping, but no signs of major damage or wear is noted. The sign measures 7" L x 16" W and weighs 10 ounces.
