This is a mystery box. The lid is engraved on the outside with a Victorian lady standing next to a large memorial plinth. She is scattering feed to chickens. There is a lake with two ducks on it and a church in the background with surrounding cottages. The boughs of a tree hang over the lady. who is wearing a large cavalier style hat, a long sleeved coat with a tight bodice and full skirts and is carrying a basket. The INSIDE of the lid has been engraved in a flowery script "PKM" There are marks on the edge of the lip of the base. 4 stars in a square, the letter "I" and one other triangular mark. The box measures 1.1/8" tall X 5.1/2" wide and 3.1/8" deep. There is wear to the surface on the very bottom of the box where other engraving has been partially erased. Intriguing!
