Seven Sages of the Bamboo Grove

The ‘Seven Sages of the Bamboo Grove’ describes a group of Chinese scholars. The group included scholars, writers and musicians, who lived at the time of the 3rd century AD. Due to the political developments and the change of leadership in the country, a new sense of life emerged among intellectuals. For ibidem precisely the ‘Seven Sages’ (Zhulin Qixian) are standing for. The group met in a grove for literary exchange and drinking session. They hoped to find their luck in oblivion and in absolute indifference against all conventions of society.

Condition: The two bowls are in good condition with hardly any signs of age and wear. Each height is 5.5 cm and the diameter measures 11 cm.
