Wismer, D.C. DESCRIPTIVE LIST OF OLD PAPER MONEY ISSUED IN OHIO. Federalsburg: Stowell, 1932. 8vo, slightly later russet cloth, gilt. (8), 50, (10) pages; interleaved with plain paper on which has been recorded additions to Wismer’s listings. [bound with] American Numismatic Association. CINCINNATI NUMISMATICALLY. CONTAINING A REFERENCE LIST FOR CHECKING THE KNOWN VARIETIES OF MONEY ISSUED BY CINCINNATI BANKS, BUSINESS FIRMS, AND INDIVIDUALS BY H.A. BRAND, PRESIDENT, CINCINNATI NUMISMATIC ASSOCIATION. ALSO PROGRAM OF THE AMERICAN NUMISMATIC ASSOCIATION ANNUAL CONVENTION. Cincinnati, 1931. 32 pages; illustrated. [bound with] Coover, Arthur B. OHIO BANKS FROM 1803 TO 1861. Reprint from the Numismatist, June 1906. Compliments of the Ohio State Numismatic Society, Columbus, Ohio, 1906. 11, (1) pages; two illustrations of Ohio bank notes; original printed wraps bound in. Bookplate of Herbert A. Brand on final title’s blank inside front wrap. Volume a bit rubbed and worn, but contents near fine. A highly interesting volume from the library of Herbert A. Brand. The Wismer work is one of a small number of copies reprinted from The Numismatist with an added preface and index. Very scarce and long the standard reference, it has been augmented in this copy with interleaved pages on which are occasional additions to Wismer’s listings. Clain-Stefanelli 13383*. Sigler 2842. The second work is highlighted by an illustrated article by Brand himself, largely devoted to Cincinnati scrip and bank notes. Most important, however, is the 1906 Numismatist offprint sponsored by the Ohio State Numismatic Society. This is the first copy of this publication we have offered in at least 25 years, and possibly may be the first we’ve ever offered.
