<B>Bound Manuscript of Flavio Biondo's <I>Per Il fatto Del Imperio e Temporale Della Chiesa</B></I></B></I><I>: Ristretto di Memoria Nel Fatto Del Romano Imperio</B></I> and <I>Ristretto Di Memoria Del Temporale Della Chiesa e Pontefici Romani</B></I> (Italy, 17th century), 143 pages, contemporary vellum with gilt spine titles, 8vo (6.25" x 8.75"). This manuscript includes material from Biondo's famous Italian history, <I>Historiarum ab Inclinatione Romanorum Imperii Decades</B></I> published in 1483. Biondo's history was consulted by the likes of Machiavelli when he was writing his histories of Italian political history. This manuscript text begins with a two-page anyonymous preface explaining the goal of the author in seeking the truth in the historical record of Italian history. The book is in good condition with some toning and staining to the boards and foxing to the inner text. A previous owner's bookplate and a previous catalog entry are affixed to the front pastedown.
