Boulton's Trafalgar Medal

Estimate: $1500 - 2500
This is an example of a silver Boulton's Trafalgar Medal that was struck by W.J. Taylor using Boulton's original dies, circa 1860. The Boulton family retained the dies after the Soho mint closed in 1850 and it was the Boulton family that commissioned Taylor to produce a number of late restrikes. The medal is in a gilt mount with a suspension ring. The obverse has the bust of Admiral Nelson and the reverse has a battle scene.
