Auction Date:2009 Jun 24 @ 10:00 (UTC-04:00 : AST/EDT)
Location:6270 Este Ave., Cincinnati, Ohio, 45232, United States
albumen; titled in negative Chincohua/ Apache Prince; from the Pikes Peak Route series and with J.L. Clinton's Colorado Springs studio backmark.

AUCTIONEER'S NOTE While this image does not appear to be a copy, the identical image was issued by A.F. Randall of Wilcox, A.T. As Mautz (1997:45) has noted, however, there is a degree of overlap of negatives between both Randall and Ben Wittick, thus the authorship of this particular image remains open to question. Clearly, however, given the notoriety of the Arizona Apaches there was a public demand for their images, and various photographers may have ordered prints to mount and retail.

Property of the Western Reserve Historical Society

Condition: Light soiling on mount.
