Boston Made Beaver Top Hat in the Regent Style, ca. 1825-1860, with early Boston maker's label ''Skinner, Kent & Co., No. 7 Elm Street, Boston'', pre-Civil War, lined in a red paper material with shellacked linen sweatband, 1'' black reeded hatband, with brim approx. 11'' in dia. and top approx. 7-1/2'' in dia., overall height of 7-1/2''. The Regent hat appears similar to the Lincoln style Stove Pipe but is mfg'd from animal fur and not silk. The Regent was introduced in 1825 and was popular to the end of the Civil War. Condition is excellent showing just the slightest wear at edge of top with very minor wear inside tall sweatband. Maker's mark and Coat of Arms is crisp and vibrant, with very minor losses of fur to bottom of brim which is barely noticable. Est.: $200-$400.
