In the tale of Jason and the Argonauts, Jason fought and killed a sleepless dragon that guarded the Golden Fleece. Medea had put the beast to sleep with narcotic herbs. Jason then took the Golden Fleece and sailed away with Medea, who had fallen in love with him. This spectatcular scene appeared in Ladies: Retold Stories of Goddesses and Heroines by Doris Vallejo. This oil on paper painting is not framed.
