<B>Boris Vallejo - "Deijaniera and Nessus" Painting Original Art (1989). </B></I> This scene is based on ancient mythology. Herakles and Deijaneira were crossing a river when the centaur Nessus offered to carry Deijaneira across to other side. Nessus then tried to run away with her, but Herakles shot an arrow from the far bank, killing Nessus.
