<B>Boris Vallejo - "Anath Slays the Warriors" 1989 Mythology Calendar Painting Original Art (1988).</B></I> Modern fantasy art master Boris Vallejo showcases a fearsome and barbaric beauty in this sword-swinging sensation. From Hebrew myth: Anath was a fertility goddess and the Goddess of Love and War. She lured a troop of warriors to her temple for a celebration. Instead, once there, she slew them all single-handedly. Afterwards she cleansed and perfumed herself and, the heavens sent down rain. This symbolism is connected with the ancient Semitic belief in blood as the essence of life, not only in terms of human and animal life, but also in terms of agriculture. The models for this painting were Boris Vallejo's ex-wife Doris and his son Dorian and this plate was used for the month of August. This painting has an approximate image area of 20" x 20".
